Self portrait/ collage as a hero

My self as a hero. Givining it some thought I was conflicted which way to go. I view my self as a hero when I can balance my life as a student, a mother and still be able to work a full time job. When I can balance my life and be sure that I am giving everyone in it 100% and have my son say he is proud of me, I can view myself as a hero because I know my happy easy going nature is being instilled in him.
In the blue collage I have my self balancing a beautiful hat like object which represents my beautiful life and the colors and patterns represent what I try and give off to the world and those close to me.
In the orange collage I decided to represent my love for interior design. I see myself as a hero because I am going after something that I have always wanted. When someone is able to do that I my eyes they are a hero because this inspires others around them to do the same. The colors and patterns are the beauty in interiors and I incorporate them in me as I do with the paper I choose to outline my face. It's what I am and this is my way to try and show that.

Pointillist Painting / Self Portrait

The Pointillist Painting is of my living room while someone was napping on the couch. I found it very difficult to paint while just dotting instead of using paint strokes. It took quite a while to get used to the idea and I do admit that I would find myself almost impulsively wanting to use brush strokes. I am finding it easier to mix the paint and feeling more comfortable with trying to figure out how to get the color I want with the colors I am able to use. (Such as in this case only using primary and secondary colors)

This is my self portrait. It is my first self portrait and this is definitly a preliminary sketch. This took me a while and I did restart it a couple of times. It is weird how you start to almost not recognize yourself after staring at and drawing yourself for a couple of hours. I think there is a lot more to be fixed (and the hair has changed) but definitely a good start. Can't wait to see the finished piece. Fingers crossed it will be worth keeping!

NY Painting

NY - in progress

After thinking of what represents NY and how to combine it with the pictures given to us I realized that the twin towers and their history represent a uniting of NY. They are now a symbol of how New Yorkers became a family on that day. All trying to help, all rushing to each others side just as a family does when there is a crisis. So to me nothing represents that more than a tree with its roots deeply in-bedded into the grown, and therefore the towers themselve rise strong like an old oak tree. Even though they were knocked down their roots cant be destroyed. What the mean to New Yorkers can't be destroyed.
