abstract from nature

So here is my abstract from nature piece. I used the shape of a leave and enlarged it so only a certain part of the leave was viewable and painted hoew I perceived the veins to appear. I went this route because I like the simple, straight lines and the combination of the colors. I understand how it might look flat but it's appealing to me. I will continue to work on it to see how I can make it pop or have more of a personality but as of yet I have not been able to pin point how exactly to do that. Maybe using different matte/gloss paints. Maybe metalics. Stay tuned to see where this piece goes!

body less extra credit

This is my body less painting. I had been trying and thinking of different ways to approach this. This is someone who would be standing in front of a window, holding back the curtains and about to open the blinds/window. Once I finished this painting and asked for an opinion I was told that it looked like the wind was blowing the curtains. I guess that is another way of viewing this particular piece. But in any case it then does convey the most imprtant part to the piece, which is movement.

final project

This is my final project. I chose this because I have been struggling with being to neat and exact. i see now what Rose has been tryinh to get me to acknowledge. Her words were.. " if you get a lettle messy your neatness will be brought out more". Now I feel like my piece has a depth that I was not able to achieve in my other pieces. It has texture and richness. It took me time and I didi struggle to stop myself from making perfect lines and trying to not make it seem perfect and exact. I see now that when I let go the final piece has a personality.
I was skeptical of this class, to be honest, but now I understand Rose's method of teaching,. That as artist we need to find our own path and not be lead and we need to experiment and experiment and experiment some more! So thank you Rose. I am no longer scared of painting and don't see myself stopping!
